2024 NSF NHERI Wall of Wind Experimental Facility User Workshop
June 3, 2024 | 8:00am - 6:00pm ET
In-Person Workshop
About the Workshop
The FIU NHERI Wall of Wind (WOW) Experimental Facility (EF) will be hosting an in-person user workshop.
Financial support for travel will be provided and priority will be given to faculty planning to submit NSF proposals that intend to use the NHERI WOW EF. Financial support for attending the workshop will be awarded in order of confirmed registration (hotel and flight arrangements will be managed by FIU including up to $550 for airfare and a two-night stay at the designated hotel).
The focus of the workshop is to:
- Sharing NSF project experience by external researchers using WOW EF.
- Share experiences and tips in developing successful proposals using NHERI WOW EF (e.g., CAREER, MRI, IUCRC, unsolicited, etc.).
- Provide one-on-one sessions between NHERI team members (from WOW EF) and workshop participants to discuss ideas on proposal development.
- Provide researchers with information on the capabilities of the NHERI WOW EF at FIU for advanced wind hazard engineering research.
- Provide a platform for collaboration to facilitate multi-disciplinary, multi-hazards research proposals.
This workshop will provide participants with proposal development suggestions for obtaining NSF funding for natural hazards mitigation research and other basic science research. It will also provide valuable information about the resources and services available at the NHERI WOW EF. Also, the workshop will include a tour of the NHERI WOW EF.
We look forward to welcoming you to our upcoming workshop (arriving on June 2nd in Miami and leaving on June 3rd evening)!
